A Head Constable (HC) of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) allegedly shot himself dead with his service weapon in a camp in this north Kashmir district on Wednesday, official sources said.
Panic gripped in Wadura camp of 92 Batallion of CRPF when firing shot was heard this morning. Other personnel immediately rushed to the spot from where the firing was heard and found HC, identified as Rajan Kumar- a resident of Odisha, lying in a pool of blood.
He was immediately taken to hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
It was not immediately clear why he took this extreme step. However, police has registered a case and initiated proceedings, the added.
Taking extreme step by security forces engaged in counter militancy operations has not stopped even after authorities introduced Yoga and Art of Living to bring them out from the stress.
